Alonzo Harris
Alonzo Harris is the Founder/CEO of Municipal Development and Marketing, a 27-year old corporation that specializes in real estate development, as well as the construction of residential communities and commercial properties. His varying partnerships in the real estate industry include the creation of an 85-acre single family home development in conjunction with the City of Dallas.
In 1999, Alonzo co-founded the 2000 Roses Foundation, Inc., a Dallas-based 501 c-3 whose mission is to educate, empower, and impact women to reenter the community from incarceration. Through political and community activism, 2000 Roses Foundation has become one of the leading advocates in prison reform and reentry in Texas. Alonzo recently developed a mentoring and job skills training program for men and women designed to provide access to the booming real estate and construction industries, while simultaneously offering an opportunity for participants to develop personally, overcome barriers to success and become entrepreneurs in their own right. In 2005, as a result of his leadership and initiative, the 2000 Roses Foundation entered into a partnership with the world-renowned Delancey Street Foundation, to duplicate their multi-million dollar reintegration complex in Dallas – making it the only replication site in the state of Texas.
He travels nationally speaking to and collaborating with community agencies, faith-based organizations, foundations and corporations to open communication on complex and controversial topics, encouraging dialogue that will lead to a more holistic approach to violence and crime reduction in our nation. Alonzo earned a B.S. in Business Administration from TexasChristianUniversity. He’s been featured in The Dallas Morning News and other leading publications.
